1957 Chevrolet Convertibles were available with a 235 cubic inch inline 6 cylinder. V-8 options included a 265 cubic inch 162 horsepower Turbo Fire V-8. In addition two 283 cubic inch V-8s were available. One was rated at 185 horsepower with a 2 barrel carburetor and a Super Turbo Fire with a four barrel carburetor that developed 220 horsepower.

Other engine options on the 1957 Chevrolet Convertible was 270 horsepower that was equipped with 2 four barrel carburetors, Duntov cam and solid lifters. 1957 was the first year that Chevy ever offered a fuel injection engine as an option. It was a 283 cubic inch V-8 rated at 283 horsepower with Duntov cam, solid lifters and fuel injection.
